Apple Safari 10 – Changes to Adobe Flash affecting Realist

This is for Apple Laptops/Desktops running Mac OS 10.10 (Yosemite) , 10.11 (El Capitan), 10.12 (Sierra) that have updated to Safari 10. At this time, these settings are not needed for iPads.

With recent updates to Apple’s Safari 10 browser, Apple has changed the way that Safari runs Adobe Flash Content. The default is actually for all flash content to be disabled. If you are running Safari and want to use the Realist System, you must enable Adobe Flash. If you do not, you’ll see the following message when trying to access Realist:

1

Below, you’ll find some instructions on adding this exception to Chrome’s settings. If you need assistance, please contact technical support at 614-475-4000 Mon-Fri 8:30a-5:00p or by email at techsupport@columbusrealtors.com

To enable Adobe Flash within Safari 10.

  1. Open Safari
  2. Find the Safari menu item along the Apple bar along the top and. Click this and then select PREFERENCES.
  3. Click on the SECURITY option along the top.
    1. Make sure the option for Allow Plus-ins is checked. Next, click Plug-in Settings.
      1. On the left side of the screen, make sure Adobe Flash Player is checked. If not check this box.
      2. Along the bottom right, select one of the options below:
        1. Ask to ASK for each site that requires Adobe Flash content (We recommend this option). If you select this option, any site, including Realist, that uses flash will show you a “Click to use Flash” button before the page loads. You are then prompted to TRUST the page. For Realist, it is OK to trust and you will not be prompted for this again.
        2. ON to allow ALL flash content on ALL websites. Please note, this is not APPLE’s default and we do not recommend this setting.
      3. You can then close the Preferences windows.
      4. Flash content for REALIST should now load. If it does not, you may want to close out of Safari fully by going to the Safari menu option on the Apple bar and select Quit Safari.

New Google Chrome version 57 – Changes to Adobe Flash affecting Realist

03/14/2017

This change affects both Mac & PC. With the release of Google’s new version of Chrome, 57, Google has changed the way that Adobe Flash processes within the browser. For those that use the Realist system within Chrome, you’ll need to make some adjustments to your browser to continue to let Realist run. If you do not make this change, you’ll receive the following error when trying to utilize Realist:

1

Below, you’ll find some instructions on adding this exception to Chrome’s settings. If you need assistance, please contact technical support at 614-475-4000 Mon-Fri 8:30a-5:00p or by email at techsupport@columbusrealtors.com

To add Realist as an Adobe Flash Exception.

  1. Open Google Chrome
  2. Click on the Menu icon in the upper right of the Chrome window (will look like 3 dots) and select Settings
  3. Once settings is open, scroll to the bottom of the screen and click on Show Advanced Settings..
  4. Look for an now available button labeled Content Settings, click on this.
  5. Scroll through the list of options until you come to the headline labeled “Flash”
    1. Recommended Default: Ask first before allowing sites to run Flash (recommended)
      1. Click on manage exceptions and type the following bolded text at the very bottom of the list:     [*.]realist.com
      2. Make sure that is set to Allow, hit enter once finished typing. The value will now appear along any others you have set.
  6. Click Done to close out the exception list. Hit Done again to close out Content Settings.
    1. Notes:
      1. If you set it to Allow Sites to run Flash, this will enable Flash on ALL sites without prompts. This is NOT the default option and we recommend NOT setting this.
      2. If you elect to Block Sites from running Flash, you will NOT be able to use any Realist related content (or any other site that uses Flash). This is NOT the default option and we recommend NOT setting this.
  7. You can then close out the Settings tab. You can now try to open Realist again. If it does not load, best option would be to first close and reopen Chrome.

Crime Alert: Bogus Caller Claiming to be Homeowner

Debbie Garrison with Century 21 Excellence Realty reported that a cleaning company had contacted her to let her know that someone claiming to be the owner of one of her listings (in Groveport) had requested a meeting with the cleaning company to get an estimate on cleaning the property. The cleaning company was suspicious of the caller and contacted Debbie to see if the request was legitimate, and it wasn’t. The homeowner had not contacted the cleaning company and mentioned to Debbie that someone had tried to get in to her home and when she opened the door was told that they thought the property was vacant. A police report has been filed. Just want REALTORS® to be on the lookout for what could be potential criminal intent.

New Hot Sheet Design Layout – February 21

On February 21, the layout of the Hot Sheet page will be updated to make it more modern. This is part of an ongoing effort by FBS to freshen the user interface in Flexmls and make it more usable.

To run the hot sheet, go to Daily Functions menu and select Hot Sheet.

The new hot sheet page has two sections: the 24-Hour Hot Sheet at the top of the page and the Custom Hot Sheet at the bottom of the page.

24-Hour Hot Sheet
As before, filters are available for the 24-hour hot sheet. Click on an available filter and either scroll through the list or start typing in the search bar. To make multiple selections, check the box next to each item you’d like to add. Once you’ve made your selections, click the Run 24-Hour Hot Sheet button to go directly to a search results page that displays all events from the last 24 hours.

Please note, if you run the 24-Hour Hot Sheet on a Monday, it also displays listing events from the past 72 hours (over the weekend).

Custom Hot Sheet
If you’ve run your custom hot sheet previously, clicking the Run Custom Hot Sheet button will run your custom hot sheet using the same criteria used in your previous run and show listing events from the past 72 hours.

If you want to set up new custom hot sheet search criteria or search on a different time frame for listing events, click the Custom Hot Sheet Settings link.
