Does your potential client have an arrest record? A female agent reported today that she talked with a suspicious caller asking about an $800,000 listing through a Zillow lead. She described the conversation as bizarre. When she suggested he talk with a lender, he hung up on her. She found an arrest record through an internet search. Details he provided were that this was his first home, he was 31 years old, lives in Pensacola FL, travels a lot for work and does consulting work. Keep in mind, these details could change during the next phone call. Bottom line – please research potential clients, never meet a new person alone, and trust your gut! https://columbusrealtors.com/alerts/default.aspx

Is your potential client a sex offender? A female agent reported this week that a potential buyer called asking about seeing property in Dublin ($450,000-$650,000, new construction, with an extra lot). When a colleague did an internet search, they found an arrest record (1998 – 2907.02 – Rape Sexual Motivation, release date 2007). However, this person does not show up on the Ohio Attorney General’s official Offender Search so that information cannot be verified. Please exercise caution when dealing with new customers! An internet search may provide details you’ll want to consider when making the decision to work with someone and/or meeting them alone at a property.
