Columbus REALTORS, please keep your guard up!

We’ve had a couple reports this week of someone knocking on the doors of a member (personal home for sale) and one of our sellers, claiming to be an interested party asking personal and intimate questions, as well, another acting as a so called vendor (radon). Please be aware and forewarn your sellers of such types of activity. Remember – If you feel threatened, call the police.

Effective 7/17/20, Dotloop will be permitted to share aggregated transaction information with Zillow and affiliated companies

Effective July 17, 2020, dotloop will be permitted to share aggregated transaction information with Zillow and other affiliated companies, going back to January 1, 2016.
This means that if you currently use dotloop, your transaction information will be shared with Zillow unless you notify dotloop by midnight tonight that you do not want your information shared with its affiliates.

The complete dotloop’s information sharing policy can be found here.

For your convenience, provisions of the policy are stated below: dotloop may share information provided to them on or after January 1, 2016 with Zillow Group and its subsidiaries (“Affiliate Sharing”).  dotloop or these affiliates may use the information dotloop collects for their internal purposes, for example, to understand and gain insight into trends in the real estate market and to improve their home valuation models. These insights are applied at an aggregate level; neither dotloop nor their affiliates will use data from individual transactions or properties to obtain leverage regarding specific transactions or inform decisions about individual properties.  If you have registered for a user account (a “Registered User”), you can opt out of Affiliate Sharing by emailing dotloop at support@dotloop.com. As a Registered User, you control the sharing permissions applicable to your view of your loop(s); other participants in the same loop(s) may make different choices regarding whether to share their loop views, which may contain similar or duplicative information. If you opt out of Affiliate Sharing prior to the Effective Date of this policy, none of your information will be shared with dotloop’s affiliates If you opt out after the Effective Date, your choice will be effective only for information you provide after you opt out.
WHAT TO DO:

If you wish to prevent this information sharing, you can send dotloop a note stating, “I do not want my information shared with your Affiliates, including Zillow,” to support@dotloop.com by July 16 to prevent the sharing of your clients’ previous transaction information, as well as future transaction information. If you make this election after July 16, it will only apply to information you provide after that date – the historical information will have already been subject to sharing.

WHO TO CONTACT:

You can contact dotloop by emailing support@dotloop.com

YOU are responsible for your buyers actions

Failure to follow seller’s instructions, such as wearing masks and practicing safety protocols during showings, is a violation of Article 3, Standard of Practice 3-9:

“Realtors® shall not provide access to listed property on terms other than those established by the owner or the listing broker.”

Sellers are well within their rights to request that those entering their home wear masks, use hand sanitizer, etc.

The agent accompanying the buyers is responsible for enforcing those instructions.

Coronavirus: Remain Vigilant

As restrictions begin to ease around the country, REALTORS® must remain vigilant in protecting their clients, their client’s properties and themselves as COVID-19 is still a serious threat. Virtual showings, meetings and open houses are one way to social distance. However, there are other unique and novel ways to successfully navigate the real estate business during these challenging, and continually evolving, circumstances.

Please review the Coronavirus Guide for Realtors:
